Well, surprisingly I was able to pull together Wyatt’s costume this year with about 3 weeks to spare. Huge difference from two years ago, where I was sewing his Ewok costume the night before trick or treating. Originally I had planned on dressing him as Waldo, from the Where’s Waldo books. But somehow, I don’t remember exactly how the conversation started, I thought to ask Wyatt what he wanted to be this year. He thought about it and the first thing he said was “THOMAS.” I acknowledged this, but I didn’t want to put him in this (yuck!). So I said, “Well, instead of Thomas, would you want to be a train conductor?” He thought for a moment, and then replied with a big grin, “Yeah!” And there you have it! Ever since, whenever anyone asks what he was going to be, he would reply with train conductor (insert cute toddler speech when reading that line).
I found the overalls and the white undershirt at Once Upon a Child (a gently used children’s clothing chain store), and the hat & bandana on Etsy.com here (without any personalization). Viola! Totaled about $30, which is pretty nice if I do say so myself.
Isn’t he just so cute!?
